Sweet Potato Mash is a smooth and comforting side dish made from tender sweet potatoes mashed with butter and a touch of seasoning. Naturally sweet and packed with flavour, this simple recipe pairs beautifully with meat, fish and vegetable dishes, offering a colourful alternative to traditional mashed potatoes.
Ingredients
-
1 large sweet potato, peeled and diced
-
Pinch pink Himalayan salt
-
1 tsp butter
Directions
Peel and dice the sweet potato into evenly sized chunks. Place in a saucepan and cover with cold water.
Add a pinch of salt, bring to the boil and simmer for 15–20 minutes until the sweet potato is fork tender.
Drain thoroughly and return the sweet potato to the warm pan for 1 minute to remove excess moisture.
Add the butter and mash until smooth. Add a splash of milk or water if required to achieve your preferred consistency.
Season to taste and serve immediately.
Recipe Note
For extra flavour, add a pinch of ground cinnamon, nutmeg or black pepper before serving.
The recipe can easily be made vegan by using coconut oil instead of butter.
