Steamed Pesto Salmon is a light yet satisfying meal featuring a tender salmon fillet topped with pesto and gently steamed to lock in flavour and moisture. Served alongside nutrient-rich green vegetables such as broccoli, courgette and asparagus, this simple recipe is ideal for a quick lunch or healthy evening meal.
Ingredients
-
1 fillet of salmon
-
1 heaped tsp of red or green pesto
-
Green vegetables to steam (broccoli, courgette, asparagus) enough to fill ¼ of your plate (or more if you want)
Directions
Spread the pesto evenly over the salmon fillet and place into a steamer basket or heatproof dish suitable for steaming.
Place the prepared vegetables into a separate steamer basket or alongside the salmon if space allows.
Steam the salmon for 8–10 minutes, or until cooked through and flaky.
Steam the vegetables for 10–12 minutes until tender but still vibrant in colour.
Transfer to a serving plate and serve immediately.
Optional: Drizzle the vegetables with a small amount of melted butter or olive oil before serving.
Recipe Note
Avoid overcooking the salmon. It should flake easily with a fork while remaining moist in the centre.
