Homemade Hummus is a smooth and creamy dip made with chickpeas, tahini, fresh lemon juice and garlic. Quick to prepare and naturally rich in flavour, it is perfect as a dip for vegetables, a spread for wraps and toast, or as part of salads and sharing platters.

Ingredients

  • 1 tin chickpeas in water (approximately 400g), drained

  • ½ cup tahini

  • 2 tbsp freshly squeezed lemon juice

  • 2 garlic cloves

  • Pinch of pink Himalayan salt

  • 2–4 tbsp cold water (optional, for consistency)

  • Drizzle of olive oil

  • Pinch of paprika

  • Fresh parsley

  • Whole chickpeas

Directions

  1. Drain and rinse the chickpeas thoroughly.

  2. Add the chickpeas, tahini, lemon juice, garlic and salt to a food processor.

  3. Blend until smooth, adding a little cold water if required to achieve your preferred consistency.

  4. Taste and adjust the lemon or seasoning if desired.

  5. Transfer to a serving bowl and finish with a drizzle of olive oil and your chosen toppings.
