With age comes change, and your vision is no exception.

As you get older, it’s normal to notice vision changes like farsightedness, decreased sensitivity to light and dark, and changes in color perception.1 While many of these changes can be easily corrected, others may need more attention.

Cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, chronic dry eye, and age-related macular degeneration (AMD) are common yet treatable eye conditions that may appear with age. Surgery and other treatments are available for these conditions, but nutrition may also help.

This is where Vision Support comes in.

What Is Vision Support?

Vision Support is a dietary supplement made to support eye health and normal vision.
Full of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds, Vision Support’s comprehensive formula has been tailored specifically to the needs of aging or damaged eyes.
The idea behind Vision Support is to serve as a complementary treatment for common vision changes and conditions, like AMD, cataracts, and dry eye. Vision Support can also be used alongside an overall healthy lifestyle that supports eye health.
Vision Support is recommended for anyone experiencing vision changes related to age, pollution, UV light, or other factors. Like other dietary supplements, Vision Support is not meant to replace standard medical or serve as a substitute for a well-balanced diet.

Nutrients for Better Vision

Vision Support has been carefully formulated and contains ingredients that have evidence-based benefits for eye health.
Phytonutrients and other antioxidant-rich nutrients make up the bulk of the Vision Support ingredient list.
Phytonutrients (or phytochemicals) are plant compounds with known human health benefits, while antioxidants scavenge potentially harmful species in your body, like free radicals.2 Many phytonutrients are also antioxidants.
Carotenoids are one type of phytonutrient that are especially important to eye health.3 Vision Support contains four different carotenoids.
Below is a look at the phytonutrients and other beneficial nutrients found in Vision Support.

selection of foods rich with Lutein

Lutein

Lutein is the first carotenoid on the Vision Support ingredient list for good reason.
Research shows that lutein is a powerful antioxidant that also contains anti-inflammatory properties. It’s thought to be especially beneficial for AMD and cataracts because it accumulates in the retina of the eye.4

Zeaxanthin

Like lutein, zeaxanthin is a carotenoid that accumulates in the retina of the eye. The two carotenoids are said to have similar structures and similar roles in the body.5
Zeaxanthin has been found to protect eyes from damage by scavenging free radicals and reducing oxidative stress. Supplementing with zeaxanthin (and lutein) has been linked to improvements in vision in people with AMD.5

Lycopene

Another member of the carotenoid family, lycopene is a red pigment found in tomatoes and other plant-based foods.
Lycopene has strong antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that may help protect against cataracts and other eye conditions.6

Eyebright (Euphrasia)

Eyebright is a medicinal plant that has been used in traditional medicine for centuries due to its rich phytonutrient content.
According to one study, eye drops containing eye bright may treat damage caused by ultraviolet B (UVB) radiation from the sun. The antioxidants in eyebright are thought to reduce oxidative damage and inflammation that can occur in eyes from damage or other conditions.7

freshly picked Bilberry

Bilberry (Vaccinium myrtillus)

Bilberry is another medicinal plant that is high in antioxidants, including anthocyanins.
It is often promoted for the treatment of night blindness as it may improve circulation to the eyes. Bilberry may also improve the health of blood vessels that go to the retina, making it a potential treatment for diabetic retinopathy as well.8

Astaxanthin

Astaxanthin is a carotenoid, antioxidant, and free radical scavenger.
In some studies, astaxanthin has been found to reduce age-related oxidative stress by increasing antioxidant activity and reducing free radicals. These actions are thought to be particularly helpful for the treatment and prevention of dry eye disease, AMD, glaucoma, and other eye conditions.9

Other Compounds in Vision Support

Carrot root (Daucus carota), vitamin A, and alpha lipoic acid are also found in Vision Support.
Carrots contain not only carotenoids but also vitamin A, a nutrient that is essential to normal vision. Other antioxidants in carrots may also support vision.10
Vitamin A is an essential micronutrient that is especially important to your eyes. Vitamin A helps process light in your eyes, facilitating normal vision. Without enough vitamin A, you may experience night blindness.11
Finally, alpha lipoic acid is a naturally occurring compounds typically found in the mitochondria of cells. In preliminary research, the antioxidant activity of alpha lipoic acid has been found to be potentially beneficial for dry eye and diabetic retinopathy.12
